My Story

I always knew I wanted to be a doctor, in fact early on I was fascinated with the whole mind body connection and thought psychiatry was my calling. I learned very quickly that traditional psychiatry was heavily treated with pharmaceuticals and I knew I didn’t want to be a pill pusher. I knew there was alternative ways to heal others than prescription medication including meditation and lifestyle behavioral changes. I didn’t learn about integrative medicine until I was in medical school.
I was trying to mange my own stress and test anxiety and learned more about yoga and meditation. Meditation has always been a personal practice I dabbled with prior to medical school, introduced by my yogi aunts, but didn’t take it seriously until I need to manage my stress. I further my spirituality and yoga journey by becoming a certified yoga instructor in medical school as well as a reiki master. I started my residency and life became even more challenging and chaotic.
Up until this point, I thought I knew everything about nutrition, and ate well from medical school but little did I know the complication of stress, not sleeping well, eating poorly, prior infections and how poor genetics was a set up for my own personal medical issues.
That’s when I knew I had to learn integrative medicine and found functional medicine. It was through the combination of functional medicine and getting to the root underlying causes that I learned I had hormonal imbalances, poor detoxification, leaky gut and celiac! I have since optimized my health by “biohacking” my body, healing my gut and improving my hormones. I had difficulty conceiving my first child, but with integrative and mindful therapies I was able to conceive naturally.
I have been a patient that has struggled with my health over the years.  Being a mother of two young kids and managing stress has been challenging even more so during a pandemic, but with the help of functional and integrative medicine I have been able to continue to give my best self to my family and patients because I have learned how to optimized my overall health and I’m happy to share my knowledge with you.

A Little Bit About Me

Dr. Bindiya Gandhi is double boarded by the American Board Family Medicine as well as the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Physicians. She completed her family medicine training from Georgia Regents University/Medical College of Georgia June 2014. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Georgia with Bachelors of Science in Biology and Psychology in 2004 and her Doctor of Medicine at American University of Antigua College of Medicine in 2010. She completed an Integrative medicine fellowship at the University of Arizona with Dr. Andrew Weil in 2016. She also completed Functional Medicine Training with the Institute of Functional Medicine in 2017.
